Men's Swimsuit

mens.jpg

Attention all men: You don’t need chiseled abs and pecs to look good in mens swimsuit.

You just need a little know how, and you’re ready to win over the ladies. It’s never too late or too early to get ready to hit the beaches.

Here are the basic types of mens swimsuits you can find.

The Speedo

Although this style usually makes guys cringe, women love Speedos! On a side note, Speedo is also the name of a company not to be confused with the actual swimsuit. It is a tightly fitted bottom also known as a bikini, but the term is misleading since the name is usually referred to women’s bikini.

There isn't much coverage with bikinis, but there is quite alot of support. The elasticity is most concentrated in the Speedo’s fabric to support the crotch and butt area. Most speedos have high concentration of polyester, which is fine, but Lycra is a new spandex like material that can stretch up to 600%!

It has a high cut brief style with differentiates from any other swim trunks. This is normally worn by athletes because it permits maximum flexibility for the lower body. For example, wearing a Speedo mens swimsuit allows you to perform full leg kicks without any intrusion with the swimsuit. For this reason male Olympic swimmers and divers wear only Speedos.

Men who look best in Speedos are athletic, or in shape. Don’t be afraid to show off that hot bod! Remember, women love Speedos.

Boxers

Boxers are the most comfortable mens swimsuit. The shorts are fitted like boxer underwear and the length reaches mid thigh. The inner construction of the boxer swimsuit has a built in mesh brief, for the support men need.

Every body type looks great in this style. It offers coverage for the buttocks, the thighs and of course the private area. Most boxers have drawstring ties at the waist, making this a custom fit for all guys.

It is important to get a boxer short that has elastic too tight around the waist. Effects of tight elastics can cause flabby stomachs to look rounder and bigger. So make sure the shorts are loosely fitted and you can tie the drawstring at the waist.

Square Cut Shorts

Square Cut Shorts are fitted and elastic like the speedo, except the shorts offer support around the upper thighs and hips. They are slightly fitted to accentuate the maximus gluteus (the butt!).

The shorts can vary in length to suit desired activities. If you’ve ever worn bike shorts, they are similar. They are good choice for triathalons, because they are suitable for swimming, biking and running. Look for swimsuits with Lycra, the fabric is much more versatile than polyester.

Board Shorts

Board shorts, also known as surfer’s trunks are so far the most popular mens swimsuit amongst teenagers and young men. The look is truly a Californian surfer’s garment. The shorts are long and baggy, reaching the knees or further. Usually board shorts have side pockets. This swimsuit has the most coverage and they do have separate netting inside like a mesh brief for support.

Men who look best in board shorts are slim, or slightly built. Anyone who’s out of shape should avoid these baggy short, they’ll accentuate the stomach area. Since the shorts are long and slimming, anything above it will look curvier than normal. I would suggest a boxer swimsuit.

Thong

If you’ve got it (and you’re brave enough), flaunt it!

Did our description of a Speedo made you cringe? Yes? Then I suggest skipping this part too. Ha-ha…it’s natural for a guy to be uncomfortable with the idea of a tight fitting bottom that hikes up their butt. Many women are still uncomfortable with women’s thongs.

Of course this swimsuit has the least coverage, but you will have a better tan. Consider a tan-thru thong; the tan will be more consistent with the rest of your body without tan lines. The many variations of thongs may be quite bold and provocative for men.

So if you’re seriously considering the next level, keep in mind where you’re going to wear it, and who will see what you’re wearing. It is probably not favored on a public beach, but this idea may strike an interesting reaction from your spouse or girlfriend. Just an idea…

The thong is ideally worn by men in shape.

Tan Thru Swimsuit Shorts

A new technology of mens swimsuit have special tan thru fabric that have thousands of tiny pores that allow the sunlight to seep thru. The shorts offer an SPF of about 10 (varies with the brand and fabric used). These are a great idea if you want to achieve a nice golden tan without bearing it all with a Speedo, or a thong!

The fabric is very light and sheer like (it is NOT sheer when you wear it wet or dry). It dries fairly quickly compared to conventional shorts. Be careful not to snag or be too rough with the shorts, the tear can lead to a noticeable defect.

This new technology is growing increasingly popular, so it is relatively easy to find. Though I do warn Tan Thru swimsuit shorts may be more expensive and less styles to choose from. There are far fewer companies that produce Tan Thru shorts than brands that create standard mens swimsuit shorts.

Shopping

Men make the same mistake as women while shopping. They often buy into advertising and trends, purchasing a swimsuit that looks gorgeous on a model. Remember they’re models!

You’re perfect the way you are! But photography and advertising can be very deceiving. With touch ups, and enhancements with computer programs, it’s not hard to make anyone look good.

When purchasing a mens swimsuit, you need to consider what types of activities are involved. If you’re going to be swimming, wearing surfer trunks will greatly affect speed, mobility and flexibility. And if you will be at a hot tub party, it is probably not a good idea to go in a speedo swimsuit.

The fabric’s contents are important in knowing how much stretch and support is presented. Designs and colors can accentuate or hide curves. Dark bottoms can be slimming and bright solid colors will attract and accentuate.

I definitely recommend all guys to go to a swimsuit store first to try any type of shorts. It is imperative that the garment is comfortable and flexible enough for your…ahem…package. You don’t want to end up being bothered by briefs that are too tight and uncomfortable, and you keep adjusting every few minutes. Trust me, girls notice that kind of behavior and it’s not very attractive. In fact, it can be quite rude in public!

After you know which particular brand, color, style and size you want you can search for it online. It's probably a lot cheaper than buying it at the store and there's a bigger variety online. Especially if you're looking for a tan thru mens swimsuit, I could only find them online.

Taking proper care of your swimsuit, it will prolong its life and its effectiveness.
