Did you know that the first Monokini was first invented to reveal bare breasts! Both men and women wore this style. It looked like a bikini bottom that would attach all the way at your shoulders instead of at the hips…pretty shocking right?
It was very popular back in the day but died out cause of its revealing nature. It is very rare to see them nowadays. Thank god the new modern Monokini is a beautiful creation that covers your private areas.
This bathing suit is an evolved version of the classic sexy bikini combined with a one piece.
Depending on how you look at it, it will look like a one piece with large cut-outs at the sides, front and back. Or you can imagine a two piece bikini that has morphed to attach together.
Either way it combines the look of a clubbing top with swimwear….so trendy! Some bathing suits styles have a thong bottom. It’s up to you how extreme you want to go!
This style is extremely sexy. The top usually has deep plunging necks that go all the way down to your belly button. Your cleavage will be out of this world!
Another type of swimsuit that's similar to the Monokini, is the Sling Shot swimsuit. It's a long piece of thin fabric that is carefully wrapped over the breasts and the crotch. The entire piece is connected like string and wraps around the body.
Shopping
This swimsuit looks best on women with long torsos, or women with nicely defined busts and waist. Perfect for Hour Glass and Apple shaped bodies. Athletic or slim women should avoid this style. If you're not sure which body type you are, click the link at the bottom of the page.
Since Monokinis have such trendy and fashionable designs, you need to make sure that you’re not going to wear this for any type of athletic activities. This swimsuit is more for show than for use.
I’d definitely recommend trying a monokini first in a store to get a feel for how it’ll fit on your body. Make sure it’s a style you really what you want.
The swimsuit is designed for a proportionate body shape. It may be uncomfortable and loose in areas, so be sure you fit well in one before purchasing. After purchasing, it may be nearly impossible to return it because of hygienic reasons and store policies.
Your bathing suit should fit snug all over, no loose bottoms or loose tops. That’s a big no-no. Keep in mind if you’re really tanned, or have darker skin, white seems to look great on your skin type. And if you’re pale wear black, it’s really flattering!
Be careful not to get a Mono-kini that has too much fabric around the middle or waist because if you don’t stand up right or bend over, it will bend too (away from your body). It will look like a floating piece of fabric hanging from your top. I can't stress enough how important it is to make sure it is well fitted!
One downside to Monokini swimwear is that they tend to be quite expensive. For the really nice fitted ones at least. They can range anywhere from $50 US and up! Be prepared to spend a lot if you’re planning on getting a Monokini.
Take care of your swimsuit, and in return it will last longer and look better!
